Hobart is the capital city of Australia’s island state Tasmania. The city is surrounded by dense tropical vegetation on one side and the sea on the other. Mona Pavilions

Mona Pavilions are located on the Derwent with it beautiful views and vistas. However, the immediate suburb around it is quite shabby and unkept. However, the private vineyard of the hotel creates quite a reclusive paradise haven where you can relax for large stretches of time. It’s not necessary to drive around either because you can simply take the catamaran from Hobart. The accommodations, or “pavilions”, in the hotel are designed in a unique style, each with its own distinct aesthetic personality. Some of the amenities in the hotel are the fitness center, sauna and spa, and the heated swimming pool. If you’re looking for some entertainment, you can also check out the MONA, which is quite a popular Museum in Hobart, and it stands for “Museum of Old and New Art”. The hotel grounds also have their own microbrewery, two bars, and a restaurant. As such, there’s plenty of options in terms of places to wine and dine at. You need to reach the hotel via ferries that you can get from Sullivans Cove, they run at regular intervals throughout the day, and as such they’re easy to get. The most exclusive and most expensive pavilion in the hotel grounds is called Roy, and it’s really a two-bedroom penthouse suite. The other pavilions are named after famous Australian artists — Charles, Arthur, Brett and Sidney — and the rooms are decorated with some of their most illustrious works. All the accommodations in the hotel come with their own kitchen, laundry service, and wine fridge.

Islington Hotel

The Islington Hotel is located in a quiet street in Hobart and it offers a lot of peace and tranquility for those guests who simply want to relax. The hotel also offers some great views, looking over at Mount Wellington. The hotel grounds are also very well maintained and feature large swatches of landscaped english gardens. The hotel has been established over what was once an old Regency building, and they’ve added to it with a modern conservatory and a new wing for accommodations. There are only 11 guest rooms in the hotel and as such it can feel awfully lonely, or awfully intimate depending on how you look at it. The hotel has been designed with the sole purpose of providing some warmth and privacy to the guests, and as such having only 11 guests makes it feel less crowded. The rooms are all designed in their unique and thoughtful styles. You can tell that a lot of thinking has gone into constructing every fabric of decoration for the rooms. Some of them have been styled upon certain themes, whereas some of them have been styled in a manner so as to acknowledge the building’s heritage. However, even if you don’t care for the theme, or the “story”, you can still appreciate the fact that all the rooms have been styled immaculately in comfortable and luxurious furnitures. The rooms also come with necessary amenities such as a flat screen TV, internet, tea and coffee makers, etc. The hotel kitchen is only open for breakfast, and as such you have to step out for lunch or dinners.

The Henry Jones Art Hotel

The Henry Jones Art Hotel is located at Sullivans Cove and is a part of the original colonial settlement. The hotel and the neighborhood has been maintained really well to respect its heritage, and as such even the cobblestone details have been preserved. Beside the history and culture behind the hotel, another great aspect is that it’s within walking distance of all the prime attractions of the city. The hotel accommodations fall within the timeless category of “warehouse chic”, and as such it features a number of contemporary pantings lining the walls of the lounge, foyer, and galleries. There’s a quiet opulence to this hotel, which makes it seem timeless and luxurious. The rooms in the hotel can vary in style and quality greatly, and as such you need to be very careful about the room you choose. The harbour view rooms are naturally the best as they offer you a vista of the sea, and you can even enjoy the sea breeze wafting in through the window. The best suites in the hotel are the Oriental Suites and the Deluxe Spa Room. The rooms in the hotel are all spacious and they feature large bathrooms. The restaurant in the hotel is one of the most popular in all of Hobart, and it’s open for breakfast and dinner. The wine menu in the restaurant is impressive, and as for the meals you have a choice between several classic European cuisines. The hotel also comes with a very classy bar, the IXL Long Bar, and it’s the perfect spot to hang at during the wee hours of the night.

Salamanca Wharf Hotel

Salamanca Wharf Hotel is located at the eastern end of the Salamanca Place, and it enjoys a view of the Derwent river. The best part of this hotel is that it’s strategically located in such a place that all the major attractions of the city are within easy walking distance. In fact, the historic Battery Point area is a short walk up the hill. If you’re looking for some charming cafes or restaurants you can find plenty of those in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. The accommodations in the hotel have been designed with quirky little risks that really pay off. The doors in the hotel, for example, have been painted bright blue. Furthermore, the private accommodations are extremely spacious and conveniently designed, but even there you can see design flourishes and quirks. For example, the rooms come with slick lighting and cowhide poufs that make it look quite quirky. The hotel service is also extremely helpful and friendly and the best part is that they offer limousine pick up and drop off to the Hobart airport. There are 22 private accommodations in the hotel, and the best one has to be the Loft Penthouses. The apartments also come with their own private kitchenettes that are full stocked with essentials, and the bathrooms feature freestanding baths. The hotel mostly thrives on local and international hipsters due to its quirky boutique charms. The hotel serves all meals, and you get a variety of different cuisines to choose from.

Mantra Collins Hotel

Mantra Collins Hotel is located in downtown Hobart. It’s very conveniently located and you can really walk on foot to most of the popular places in Hobart, but that’s also largely due to the fact that Hobart is an extremely small city to begin with. Some of the attractions in closest vicinity to the hotel are the harbour front, the neighboring art galleries full of South African masterpieces, and museums. The immediate neighborhood of the hotel is quite trendy and hip and it’s a great place to go exploring for some charming cafes and restaurants. The building that houses the hotel used to be a boring old tower block, however it has been refurbished and completely upended into a hip and trendy boutique hotel. However, the only drawback is that the hotel doesn’t come with all of the staples of luxury hotels. For example, it doesn’t have a bar of its own. Considering this is one of the cheaper boutique hotels in Hobart, the rooms aren’t very spacious and can sometimes get very cramped, however the one-bedroom apartment is quite spacious enough for one person. The accommodations are also quite light on personality and style, however they’re all functionally designed. The hotel restaurant is called Collins and it’s largely meant for a quick bite, however if you want a proper meal with cool ambience, you should step out of the hotel and into the neighboring Garagistes Restaurant. Having said that, perhaps the biggest draw for this hotel is that it’s functional in nature and is quite cheap.

Lenna of Hobart

Lenna of Hobart is located along the expansive Derwent waterway, and as such you really couldn’t find a better place to stay. Not only is it scenically beautiful, but it’s also quite close to all the popular attractions of the city. The penthouse suites in the hotel are perhaps the best accommodations in all of Hobart and they enjoy a 360 degree panoramic view of the waterfront and of Mount Wellington. The suites are extremely expensive however they offer a minimum of two bedrooms, and as such the cost can very well be split if you’re traveling in groups.

The Lodge on Elizabeth

The Lodge on Elizabeth offers bed and breakfast accommodations a mere 600 meters from the Hobart Central Business District. The lounge area in the ground floor is a great place for guests to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. The rooms in the hotel are quite adequate with private bathrooms, electric blankets, and sometimes even a spa bath. The hotel also comes with a nice courtyard garden that guests can relax in. The accommodation comes with a complementary buffet breakfast that includes a large selection of fruits, breads, and english muffins. While the hotel itself doesn’t offer a lot more, the neighboring eateries of North Hobart are a short 5 minute walk away.

Salamanca Terraces

The Salamanca Terraces offer accommodations located a mere 11 minute walk from the beach. The hotel has been named after the Salamanca Place, which is one of Hobart’s prime attractions, and which happens to be located on the very doorsteps of the hotel. The accommodations in the hotel feature 1 bedroom, 2 bedrooms, or penthouse suites. However, the best aspect of the hotel is that it’s conveniently located. A short stroll can take you to the MONA ferry terminal, or the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. The immediate neighborhood is also full of some charming cafes and restaurants to dine at.

Motel 429

The biggest attraction of Motel 429 is that it’s located a short 2 minute stroll from the beach, and most of the rooms in the hotel enjoy a view of the waters of Sandy Bay. The hotel overlooks the Derwent River, and some of its main amenities include the spa and the fitness center. Some of the other attractions close to the hotel are the Wrest Point Casino, the Hobart Central Business District, and the Salamanca Market. The latter of these is a mere 5 minute walk away. When you’re in this hotel you should also get some tours arranged for the neighboring Bruny Island and Peppermint Bay.

Hadley's Orient Hotel

Hadley's Orient Hotel was first built in 1834 and it’s situated in the heart of Hobart’s Central Business District. As such, it’s centrally located and thus accessible to all the other prime attractions in the city such as the Constitution Dock, the Elizabeth St Mall, and the Salamanca Markets, all of which are located 5 minutes away by foot. The hotel features some very elegant and classy amenities such as the atrium-style restaurant and bar, both of which are common venues for various events arranged in the city.

The Bay View Villas are located 5 minutes away from Hobart’s Central Business District, and they’re located quite close to the harbour. As such, depending on the accommodation you choose, you could be looking out at the harbour, the Derwent river, or the city. The apartments are available in 1, 2, or 3 bedroom options and they come with their own kitchenettes, dining areas, and living rooms. The hotel also features a game room with a TV, a table tennis table, and a pool table.

Fountainside Hotel is located smack right in the middle of Hobart’s Central Business District and it’s a short 10 minute walk away from Salamanca Market or the neighboring waterfront restaurants. Other attractions such as the Battery Point village, and the Hobart Aquatic Centre, are a 5 minute drive away. As such, the Fountainside Hotel is very well placed. The accommodations in the hotel aren’t the best in the city however they’re functional with amenities such as a flat screen TV, a minibar, heaters and air conditioners, etc. You can even enjoy a complementary breakfast buffet in the dining room.

Wrest Point Tasmania

Wrest Point Tasmania is located a short 2 minute walk from the beach. The hotel is located in such a way that the accommodations can offer you a view of either the Derwent river, or Mount Wellington, or Hobart’s Central Business District. It goes without saying that the river and mountain view rooms are a lot more expensive and exclusive in nature. The biggest attraction of the hotel is the Point Revolving Restaurant on the 17th floor which has won an award for its stunning Australian cuisine prepared with a French infusion. Another great attraction of the hotel is the Birdcage Bar where you can sip on a variety of cocktails while enjoying some pleasant live music.

Grosvenor Court Apartments Hobart

The Grosvenor Court Apartments is located 8 minutes from the beach, and it’s situated on a quiet corner of the Sandy Bay. The accommodations available here are studio apartments, 2 bedroom apartments, and 3 bedroom villas. The apartments are all well appointed and come with their own private kitchens, and they’re even cleaned regularly.

St Ives Motel Apartments

St Ives Motel Apartments are located on the historic Battery Point, a short 7 minute walking distance from the beach. Some of the other attraction within close vicinity are Salamanca Market, and the waterfront restaurants and cafes, all within a 10 minute walk from the apartments. The accommodations in the hotel come with all modern amenities and they enjoy either a harbour or a city view, depending on your budget and availability. There isn’t any restaurant on-site, however the immediate vicinity of the apartments is lined with cafes and restaurants.
